Guess that Motorhome Movie Moment!

QUIZ: Can you guess the fantastic film from the still?

We know we're somewhat obsessed with campers here at Jackyards, but wherever we turn, they do tend to crop up . . . (honest). Sure, our focus is often on the road (and the comfort of our hand-stitched seat covers), but they turn heads anyway. They're even there when we get home and put our feet up in front of the telly. Just look at one of the most iconic television shows in history. You know, the one where a school teacher's at his wit's end, so he and his former pupil cook up some crystals in the desert . . . Ah, memories . . .

The point we're making is they seem to be popping up everywhere – television shows, television adverts, music videos, and . . . films.

These rolling homes combine the open road with a cramped environment. It's the perfect ingredient for storytelling. It helps establish character and carry the plot from location A to B and back again. We'd go as far as to call campers an iconic part of Americana. They bring out the best in us, whether we favour smoke-filled hippie wagons or conservative RVs. They gift us conflict, action and communication in spectacular locations. So, for a bit of a departure from all the doom scrolling of late, we wanted to get quizzical with our readers and invite them to a family-friendly game of . . . guess that motorhome movie moment!

Okay, are they done now?

No?? Wow, well, if these movies aren’t enough to get their motor running, why not take a peek at our bespoke seats? We use the finest fabrics for our covers and put our heart and soul into each one. Our materials are often associated with boat covers, canopies, spray hoods and biminis. That way, our customers know they’re highly resistant to water, sunlight and atmospheric conditions. Plus, each is personalised to your specifications.

“6 months of 4 kids and a dog and time to wash the seat covers. Delighted to know you can wash them on 40 degrees and quickly get them back in the car. They came up brilliantly, as good as new. Can safely say these covers take all the stress way from my family jumping in and out of our van, in from the beach or a muddy dog walk. Well worth the money, thanks Denise and the Jackyards team.”

#1 | The A Team (2010)

Director: Joe Carnahan

Starring: Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley, Quinton, ‘Rampage’ Jackson

Okay, so yes, it was popularised in the A Team series. However, one of television's most iconic campers starred in its own film. The A-Team is an American action thriller in which a group of Iraq War veterans are imprisoned for a crime they did not commit. They soon escape and set out to clear their names with the U.S. Military

#2 | Back to the Future (1985)

Director: Robert Zemeckis

Starring: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson

We're not ones to root for the baddies (especially when they're Libyan terrorists), but that time-travelling DeLorean gets all the fun. Back to the Future is an American science fiction film in which a 17-year-old high school student is accidentally sent thirty years into the past. Here, he meets his parents when they were kids and the old (now younger) eccentric scientist. Unfortunately, the baddy's blue bay VW Bus meets an untimely end when the DeLorean it was chasing reaches 88mph and disappears.

#3 | The Incredibles (2004)

Director: Brad Bird

Starring: Craig T. Nelson, Samuel L. Jackson, Holly Hunter

This is a SUPER powerful RV moment if ever we did see one. The Incredibles is an American computer-animated superhero film. Despite doing their best to be undercover a family of superheroes must take action and save the world. Ahead of the climax, our heroine uses her elasticated powers and latches onto a rocket. Uses her body as a harness to carry a security RV - filled with her family - she helps get them back to the city where they attempt to stop a super villain. Timing their landing just right, the parents squabble over travel routes before taking on their new nemesis.

#4 | Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

Director: Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris

Starring: Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear

With its bug-eyed looks, the VW campervan has the sturdy spirit of being depicted as the underdog on screen - and this film is the best of them. Little Miss Sunshine is an American tragicomedy in which a dysfunctional family take an 800 miles cross-country road trip. The reason? To help get their young daughter to the finals of a beauty pageant (all while their own lives are falling apart). The cramped interior of the yellow vehicle is the perfect catalyst for comedy, drama, and sentimentality.

#5 | The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

Director: Steven Spielberg

Starring: Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Pete Postlethwaite

Okay, as motorhomes go in movies, this one has it all. It's decked to the nines with scientific equipment, a vet's lab, and sleeping quarters. Plus, it's got a pretty cool militaristic aesthetic. Not too shabby. Now, Jurassic Park is one of the best-selling films of all time. Its ground-breaking effects inspired George Lucas to continue Star Wars and for Peter Jackson to make the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Lost World: Jurassic Park is the second instalment in the Jurassic Park franchise and is an American science fiction action film. The film sees one hero return to the fray from the first film to study the dinosaurs on Jurassic Park Site B. However, he soon bucks heads with a militarized sect of the team who wants to bring the dinos back to the United States. Needless to say, it doesn't end well.
